History
Geographic location and ethnic population have always played major role in
determining history of Afghanistan. Humans had started living in Afghanistan
at least 50,000 years ago. During the course of history, Afghanistan went

Economy
Agriculture and herding are the main occupations of the people of
Afghanistan. The country has fair deposits of mineral wealth which remain
unexploited. Afghanistan exports fruits, nuts, lambskins, gemstones and
handwoven carpets. It imports machinery, manufactured goods, petroleum
products and foodstuffs. Transport infrastructure of the country is in poor
state.
Geography & Climate
Afghanistan is a mountainous country with the exception of south-west
region. Most of the country is covered by undulating valleys and tall
mountains. The country shares borders with Pakistan, Iran, Turkmenistan,
Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and China. Climate of Afghanistan is hugely varied,
experiencing extremes of climate.
Language
Most popular language of Afghanistan is Dari, Afghan version of Persian
language. Officially, Dari, Pashtu, Uzbeki, Turkmeni and 30 minor languages
are spoken in Afghanistan. Most Afghan are capable of speaking in two
languages.

Government

Rivers & Lakes
Kabul, Amu Darya, Harirud and Helmand are the main rivers of Afghanistan.
These rivers are mostly supported by mountain streams. In spring season,
these rivers have good amount of water. As for lakes, Afghanistan does not
have great number of them. Mentionable lakes in Afghanistan are Lake Zarkol
along the Tajikistan border, Lake Shiveh in Badakhshan, and saltwater Lake
Istadehye Moqor, south of Ghazni.
